I am quite disappointed in the way many Republicans are discussing the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023. It was a GOP win. Period. If one is playing a football game and your guy kicks a field goal with three seconds remaining to win the game, you won. The fact that you threw four interceptions and should have won by much more doesn’t really matter at that point. You won.
FSU blew a 14-point, fourth-quarter lead against LSU last year. Yet we still cheered when FSU blocked the tying PAT with no time remaining for the win.
The Democrats are so much better at this than the Republicans. That is why 165 democrats in the House voted for the bill. The only Democrats that voted against it are from gerrymandered “safe“ districts. The other Democrats know they better claim it as a victory if they want to win next year’s election. The conservatives voting against the bill also are mostly from safe districts but their criticism is costing their brethren votes.
During four years under Queen Nancy’s reign of terror, the GOP did not have a single win. Now, the House has passed several pro-America bills. China Joe vetoed a couple. Chucky Schumer is keeping the Senate from voting on another dozen or so. With only a four-vote margin (Chris Stewart is resigning to care for his sick wife), the GOP should be treating every victory like it is the second coming. Otherwise, the MSM is going to downplay every victory so much so that GOP voters next year are going to think their Republican representative is not doing anything right.
And this was actually a very big victory. It is the first time in history where Congress has retrieved funds, any funds, that it previously had appropriated. Among the funds recovered was a $400 million gift to the National Institutes of Health to fund more “gain-of-function” research. Yes, that is the same research that brought us the Wuhan Flu (Covid-19 to the wokies) and caused Russia to invade Ukraine after they discovered we were doing the same thing on their border.
The same goes for the reduction in the IRS funding. I will admit it is not as much money as I wanted but is sufficient to terminate China Joe‘s plans to expand the IRS this year. When next year‘s appropriation comes up, the GOP can simply cut out more.
Although future guarantees are like frosting on the cake, they are worthless. If the federal government had a nickel for every time a politician went back on their promise, we wouldn’t be in this situation because the federal government would no longer be in debt. Should the Democrats keep the Senate and pick up only four seats in the House, they will simply refund everything in 2025.
Instead of bitching about McCarthy’s failure to get more worthless future promises, the members of the House can do more to secure our future by simply starting on next year‘s appropriation now, and cutting more graft out of that bill.
It also would help if they played in reality and recognized that a victory, even a one-point victory, is still a victory.

No discussion about dummies is complete without mentioning at least a couple Democrats. After her closest supporters booed her of the stage on Friday, AOC claimed she had the “best town-hall meeting.” I am certain she does not know why but her outright lie, with the help of a biased news media, turned a loss into a win. Funny, as stupid as she is, she was able to do the exact opposite of what the GOP is doing to themselves. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but the GOP could learn something from her. Well, from her puppeteers anyway.

The king of the left-coast dummies out-did himself. After rival gangs had a shoot out on a Hollywood, Florida boardwalk, California’s Gavin Newsom claimed it was caused by the new Florida law that allows people to carry concealed weapons without a government permit.
Maybe the governor of the state with the worst crime rates in the country should not be giving advice on law enforcement. Then he would be able to avoid blaming as the cause of something a law that does not take effect until later this year. As the famous rabbit, Bugs Bunny, would say, what a maroon.”

It is off-topic but I must tip my hat to Chris Stewart. Although he is in good health, he has his priorities right in resigning his congressional seat to care for his sick wife. His integrity should be compared to the spouses of three Democrats (Biden, Feinstein, and Fetterman) who force their sick spouses to work so they can enjoy the perks.
Well, in Biden’s case “work” is a figurative word. A confidential anonymous source told me that when he heard Rosalynn Carter had been diagnosed with dementia Joe called her and told her it is nothing to worry about. He was diagnosed with it years ago and he is doing just fine.

Great perspecctive.
This one was still going up when it cleared the back wall. Another one out of the park!
