“What kind of lawyer is he?” One woman asked.
“He is a criminal lawyer,” another replied.
“Aren’t they all,” the first one added.

I first heard that joke from a senior partner when I was a young lawyer. Now, at the other end of my career, I think about how much I owe to him and my other mentors who took a wild college cowboy and turned him into a pretty decent lawyer. It was probably one of the greatest feats in world history.
——
When I first read about Michael Oher suing the Tuohys I got the feeling that his attorneys did not have great mentors. Another of my mentors instilled in me that a good lawyer can move his unreasonable client as far as he can move the other side.
If Michael Oher came into my office, one of my first questions would be, “Are you better off now than you would have been if the Tuohys had left you on the street”?
My advice would have come from there. If nothing else, there is probably no chance he would have ever graduated from high school without their help. Then he never would have played college football and never would have played in the NFL. In short, they could have taken every penny from the movie and he still would owe them more, much more. He would have been far worse off if he never met the Tuohys. He should be grateful and that is the end of it.
I don’t want to suggest his lawyers are the ones who put the idea in his head but somebody with evil intentions, wanting to destroy a wonderful American charitable act, got him turned around. Let us all pray that he finds the right path in the future.
A good lawyer would have been able to show him that way.

Speaking g of lawyers and clients, the radical Democrats are going so far as to try to destroy the lawyer–client relationship. Both the federal document case and the Georgia case against Donald Trump rely heavily upon attorney-client communications. These are protected communications and our judicial system cannot function if they are made public.
Looking back, I figure the vast majority of setbacks in my cases have been the result of clients not telling me everything I needed to know. If they fear that what they say could be discovered by anyone, that problem will permeate our entire legal system.
That is exactly what the fascists want. They want to ensure that people they target, especially patriotic Americans, cannot get effective assistance of counsel.

As to the targeting of lawyers who give bad advice, all I can say is if they put every lawyer who gave bad advice in jail I would be the only lawyer left. You see, every case that goes to trial comes down to two lawyers advising the jury that they should come to directly opposite results. To the Atlanta district attorney, who probably cannot find her asshole with a funnel, I say, “do you intend to put every lawyer who loses a jury trial in jail for giving bad advice? Which cell do you want”?
Dear lord, please show judges the way to save us because our government is now our enemy.
