T Minus 24

Well, maybe it should be “S Minus 24.”  Because there will not be a takeoff but a shut down in 24 days unless the federal government can pass a budget for the 2024 fiscal year, which begins October 1, 2023.

Now is the time for Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy to show some leadership and get the GOP behind a government shutdown unless the demons agree to take a machete to the Harris-Biden hand-outs and stop the invasion of anti-Americans.

After McConnell’s press conference on Tuesday, however, I am certain that he does not have that leadership ability.  He is willing to give in to a political party that cheated to put a corrupt traitor in the White House and now turns a blind eye to the piles of evidence of corruption.  McConnell has to be replaced1 to save America.

As to the budget, the first item on the chopping block must be the Green Bad Deal.  For example: The Harris-Biden Administration paid Proterra, Inc. more than $6 million PER BUS for every bus they built only to watch the company go into bankruptcy within two years of Biden starting to hand out the cash.

The Harris-Biden Administration also gave $1.8 billion to a Chinese company to build a battery plant in Michigan even though most of the $1.8 BILLION went to compensation for the company’s highly paid management, all of whom are Chinese citizens who have pledged their loyalty to the CCP.

By reimposing ALL of the tariffs required by the Trump trade deals (because China is not complying), we could generate at least $7 billion a month in additional government revenue. This will also make American-manufactured goods comparatively less expensive. The democrats don’t want any part of that.

Another good place to save money is to stop subsidizing horrible universities.  For example: last year Harvard received about $4.2 billion from the US government in research grants and related government gifts. That is more than four times the amount of all of the combined tuition and fees they received from students ($1.1 Billion according to Harvard’s own financial statements). Yes, many of those student fees were also subsidized with federal Pell grants and other federal handouts.

In addition, the government caused the explosion of student debt when the Obama administration eliminated the limits on the amount of money a student could borrow, giving the universities a green light to raise their tuition and fees at up to five times the rate of inflation.

Of course, if we cut the federal gifts to such schools, lazy liberals like Lizzie Warren‘s husband will not be able to keep receiving $300,000 a year after their 70th birthday with no obligation to teach anything.  What a shame.

Let us not forget that government grants to Harvard also created the Unibomber.

Congress also needs to stop telling the “mandatory spending” lie. They can make many cuts to Social Security without cutting or reducing the increases of retirees’ benefits by cutting off the payments to parents of many children who are not really disabled.  By comparing payments for dependents from 1990 to 2020, I discovered that the number of families receiving those payments (which were never supposed to be part of Social Security) have exploded as the control-happy Marxists convinced parents that they could get government money by telling their children that they are victims and can never survive without government assistance.  That money comes in handy for the parents who need to buy those children more video games and smart phones to replace their inability to parent.

My parents had a much less expensive way to solve the attention-deficit problem. They turned off the TV.  I used the same approach with my children and it worked remarkably well.

Too bad we do not have any elected officials who know how to use the same approach and turn off the “Free Money” network.
